LEWISTOWN – Back from the brink.

Facing long odds for a comeback, the MIfflin County 10Us found themselves looking up at a 6-0 deficit going into their last at bats against a very tough Perry County squad in the District All-Star Cal Ripken Championship game Sunday.

However, MIfflin County was cool under pressure as they dug deep and chipped away at the deficit until they were tied at six.

With no outs and the game tied and MIfflin County’s Evan Sharp at third, the home team saw the base runner win the game hustling home on a wild pitch completing the comeback and winning the championship 7-6.

Mifflin County pounded out eight hits in the contest. Easton Peachey and Evan Sharp both tallied 2RBIs in the win.

Picking up the win on the mound for MIfflin County’s was Jonas Weaver.

For five and a half innings, the Perry County 10Us held the momentum, scoring their six runs in the first five innings.

Perry County’s hurler Braxton Miller went 5 1/3 innings allowing three hits before hitting his pitch limit.

After Mifflin County held Perry County’s hurler scoreless in the sixth, it was time for the comeback attempt to commence.

Jasper Snook took advantage of a P.C. miscue to reach first. He stole second.

Standing at second Paxton Snook doubled in Jasper, putting the deficit quickly to five.

Snook moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a second Perry County error on a Jaxon Joyce fly ball. He reached safely to first and moved to second on a stolen base.

Weaver kept things going as he walked. Garrett Shawver walked as well, loading the bases and setting the stage for Easton Peachey.

Peachey did not disappoint as he blasted a 2RBI double, cutting the lead to 6-4.

Sharp brought the game closer as he tied the game with a 2RBI double.

Sharp moved up a base to third on a wild pitch and then brought the game to a close as he blazed his way home to give “the Cardiac Kids” the seemingly impossible victory and the championship title.
