Huskies track battles but falls to tough Chambersburg squad

LEWISTOWN – Mifflin county Huskies took on Chambersburg Trojans at the Mifflin County Track Thursday.

In the end, the Trojans would top the boys 110-36 while the girls fell 126-23.

There were all-around good performances from both teams in the dual meet.

Early on In the 4×800- meter relay, the girls started out the evening with the Trojans earning the win in the event with a time of 12:04.59. Meanwhile, the Huskies girls team finished with a time of 12:41.76.

Both teams showed a great amount of speed in the relay. Senior Justice Sheaffer and her fellow teammates showed great effort in the race. Meanwhile on the Boys’ side for the 4×800 relay, Chambersburg edged the Huskies in the race with a time of 8:47.88.

The Huskies boys finished with a time of 8:49.99

In Boys shot put, the Trojans proved to be too much for Mifflin County sweeping the Huskies.

 

Peter Mertz led the way for Chambersburg with a distance of 48 ‘9’’.

Nauffy Jones led the way for Mifflin County in the 110-meter hurdles recording a 17.75 Jones fellow teammate Josh Cruz finished in third with  a time of 18.69, it was Cruz’s debut in hurdles tonight against The Trojans.

Jones has run hurdles two times in the young season.

For Chambersburg, Antonio Harrison led the way in the 100- meter sprints with a time of 10.84.

Mifflin County secured the second spot with Micah Simmons with a time of 10.87.

Simmons looked in too form on the night.

Simmons finished third in the 200- meter dash.

Lillie Markley had herself a night placing in both the 100-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles. Markley placed third both times with a time off 18:44 in the 100 while coming back to run the 300 meter hurdles finishing with a time of 56.21 Markley also set her personal best in the 100-meter hurdles.

Jaden King jumped 21’4 1⁄2” placing second Josh Mertz led the way in discus throwing 150’.

In the 800-meter run for the boys Isacc Parks-Gill finished third overall Parks Gill also had a good night.

On the girls side, Lyza Underhill had a great afternoon placing in both of her events.

Underhill ran a 13.0 in the 100-meter dash.

Underhill also recorded a time of 27.75 in the 200-meter dash.

Bailey McNitt placed third in triple jump while Danielle Warfel for Mifflin County placed first in the 400-meter run recording a time of 1:03.94.

Josiah Sechler continued his outstanding performance placing first in javelin with a distance of 172’9’.’

It was a great night for a track meet not to hot not too cold both teams showed great effort tonight.

The Mifflin county will visit Cumberland Valley Next Thursday Meanwhile Chambersburg will travel to state college to take on the Little Lions.
