Huskies lose heartbreaker to Altoona

The Mifflin County baseball team opened up scoring in the first inning. Ryan Kanagy drew a walk, scoring one run.

In the bottom of the second inning, Altoona  tied things up at three when Sean Bettwy singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

The Mountain Lions pulled away for good with one run in the fourth inning. In the fourth Sam Saylor grounded out, scoring one run.

Altoona scored three runs in the second inning. Connor Weyandt and Bettwy all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Aaron Smearman earned the win for Altoona . Smearman allowed two hits and three runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out four. Tanner Stroup threw two and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Calin McKnight took the loss for the Huskies. The pitcher went three and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs on four hits and striking out three.

Xavier Smith and McKnight each collected one hit to lead Mifflin County.

Bryce Eberhart led the Mountain Lions with three hits in three at bats.
