Huskies baseball improves to 2-0 with win over Altoona

ALTOONA – Starting the week with a road trip to Altoona, the MIfflin County baseball team knew it would have to have its best game to come out of their contest with the Mountain Lions.

The Huskies did just that as they brought back a 6-2 victory to keep them undefeated at 2-0.

Leading the way offensively was Madden Weaver posting two RBIs.

In the third, the Huskies opened the scoring.

Reese Christine opened the inning with a walk. Grady Hopple also walked. Joel Beamer loaded the bases for Easton Lepley brought Christine home on a walk, making it 1-0.

With one out , Weaver blasted a sacrifice fly scoring Hopple, upping it to a 2-0 MIfflin County lead.

Altoona posted a run in the fourth and then one in the sixth.

In the fifth, the Huskies added to its lead posting four runs.

Jayden Smith doubled to start out the sixth. Lepley took one for the team as he was hit by a pitch.

Tye Plank picked up an RBI single, scoring Smith.

Weaver again brought in a run posting his second sacrifice fly of the game, upping the lead to 4-1.

Logan Alexander single brought in pinch runner Landon Haigh.

Lincoln Ruble finished the Huskies scoring as he blasted an RBI double.

Despite the late run by Altoona, the Huskies closed things down en route to the win.
