WINGATE- on a cold and windy afternoon, the Bald Eagle baseball team hit the ball hard but wasn’t able to get the hits they needed against a tough Huntingdon team that found the holes and took advantage of situations using it for a 8-5 victory over Eagles.

“I think we had some good at bats. We got some stuff moving,” said Bald Eagle Area coach Ryan MacNamara. “We are still kind of missing those key hits. We had some base running mistakes. We had some costly errors. We have to throw more strikes. There were a couple walks and they usually find a way to score. We need to clean it up. We have to go tomorrow to Mount Union so we got to reset and go after it tomorrow.”

The Eagles offense was led by Isaac Johnson as he went 3-for-3 with 2RBIs and Luke Hosband who went 2-for-3, run and RBI.

Highlighting the night for the Eagles was Hosband who went yard in a deep shot to left centerfield in the fifth.

Huntingdon scattered out 11 hits in the contest.

The Bearcats finished with Brock Bryson (3-for-4), Connor Moore (2-for-5, 2Runs, RBI), Bowden Woodward (2-for-3), Erick Rupert (2-for-2 2Runs, 3RBIs) and Drew Wilson (2-for-3 RBI) all posting with multiple hits Thursday. Rupert went yard for his team en route to the victory.

Moore picked up the win for Huntingdon while Hosband took the loss.

In the first, the Bearcats scored first.

Moore opened the game blasting a double into right field. He moved over on a wild pitch. He scored on a sacrifice fly by Bryson.

With two out, Woodward walked. His time was short as fellow Bearcat Reck tripled to right center.

Defensively, the Eagles were able to limit the damage to just two, throwing a runner out at home twice in the inning.

However, Huntingdon added on two more to go ahead 4-0 going into the third.

Trailing 4-0, Bald Eagle Area rallied to cut the deficit in half. Dawson Lomison got the bottom part of the inning started on a good note with a walk.

Hosband moved his teammate over to third with a single to left.

Connor Perry moved both runners up a bit as he hit a sacrifice fly.

Johnson was cool under pressure blasting a 2-RBI single, cutting things to 4-2.

In the fifth, Huntingdon added three more to up their lead to 7-2.

Hosband would not let the deficit bother him as he blasted a solo shot over the confines of the Bald Eagle fence.

In the seventh, the Bearcats added another run, making it an 8-3 lead going into their last at bats.

Bald Eagle refused to go away without a fight as they were able to put two more on the board. But it would be too little too late as the Bearcats held on to the victory.
