Historic win, Penn State dominates UMass

UNIVERSITY PARK -The 5-0 Penn State Nittany Lions welcomed in The 1-6 Umass Minutemen on Homecoming day.

It was an all out good effort from all positions, special teams, defense and offense shitting out the Minutemen 63-0.

The first touchdown of the game was a punt return touchdown from Daequan Hardy.

Hardy had two punt return touchdowns in the game, that is the first time in school history that has happened.

Sophomore quarterback Drew Allar found Theo Johnson twice in the endzone while running one in for a score in the second quarter.

Allar completed 13/17 of his passes throwing for 107 yards and one touchdown.

Allar was sacked in the first quarter with 6:58 remaining by JB Brown, the defensive lineman. KeArdre Lambert Smith was Allar’s Target early Lambert Smith totaled up 23 yards in the first half while Smith was targeted six times.

Kaytron Allen scored in the second quarter with 6:20 remaining in the half.

Allen carried Minuteman Defenders on his back to the endzone for nine yard touchdown run  to extend the lead 21-0.

The home faithful and the Nittany Lions would not be satisfied with a 21-point lead Allar connected on a pass to Tight-end Tyler Warren for a 7-yard touchdown pass.Penn State went into locker room leading 28-0.

In the second half, Penn State scored five more times totaling up 35 more points.

Allar found Johnson running down the field for a 30 yard touchdown in the third quarter with 11:29 on the clock. Johnson scored again on a 18-yard touchdown with 5:54 remaining 

in the third.

Hardy would take a 68 yard return back to the house late in the third following the big return.

The back ups scored the final two touchdowns. The Backup Runningback out of Williamsport Pa found his way into the endzone for a two yard run at the start of the fourth quarter.

Beau Pribula found a big hole to run down the field for 31 yards to extend the lead to 63-0 with 8:28 remaining in regulation.

On the defensive side for the Nittany Lions, Adisa Isaac gave Taisun Phommachanh a rough time at the beginning of the game roughing him up for 2 in a half sacks both happening before halftime.

Cam Miller recorded two sacks of his own. Miller made his presence known early and often. Chop Robinson had two sacks in the afternoon as a team the Nittany Lions had seven total sacks on the day while totaling 14 tackles for a loss.

On special teams Alex Felkins and Sander Sahaydak both were perfect going 9/9 on extra point attempts Felkins went 6/6 Sahaydak 3/3. Penn state punted just once the whole game

There wasn’t much to show for the Umass offense George Johnson led the team in receiving yards with 24 on two receptions. Runningback Kay’Ron Lynch Adams totaled 14 carries rushing for 31 yards.

The Minutemen defense recovered a fumble in the first quarter off of Harrison Wallace lll Tyler Rudolph recovered it that would be the only bright spot for UMass in the game.

The Nittany Lions would be too much for the Minutemen, Pennstate improves to 6-0 and is now Bowl eligible.

Pennstate will travel to the Horseshoe to take on Ohio State Next week kickoff is slated for a Noon on Fox.

Umass will have a bye week before they clash against Army on the 28th of October.
