Hempfield Area Spartans Squeaks By State College Little Lions In Pitchers Duel

Both teams were strong in the circle on Monday, but Hempfield Area was just a little bit stronger at the plate in their 2-1 victory over State College. Addison Harpster started the game for the Little Lions and recorded 18 outs.

The Spartans got on the board in the bottom of the sixth inning after Lauren Howard singled to center field, and State College committed an error, each scoring one run.

Riley Miller earned the win for Hempfield. The pitcher gave up one hit and one run (zero earned) over seven innings, striking out seven and walking one. Harpster took the loss for the Little Lions. The righty went six innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits, striking out six and walking none.

MJ McShea led the Little Lions with one hit in two at bats.

Howard went 2-for-3 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Howard and Claire Mitchell each collected two hits for Hempfield Area.
