GETTYSBURG- The Mifflin County Huskies football team traveled to Gettysburg to take on the Warriors at Warrior Stadium on senior night and Pink Out Night.  Gettysburg came out victorious 47-30.

Gettysburg received the opening kickoff and it wouldn’t take long for the Warriors to get on the board. Brady Heiser found Preston Burnett for a 14-yard score to take a 7-0 lead over Mifflin County only two minutes into the game.

The Huskies got the ball and went three and out.

The Warriors scored again on a quarterback keeper by Heiser extending the lead over Mifflin County,14-0.

Gettysburg ended the first quarter up by two touchdowns.

The Warriors tried to attempt a 20-yard field goal from it and would be unsuccessful.

Mifflin County’s Cyrell Green got the Huskies on the board. Chase Hartung  found Green for a 10-yard score.  The Huskies Joel Beamer was heavily involved in the first couple quarters.  The touchdown cut into Gettysburg lead 14-7.

Gettysburg turned to Burnett quite often as the Warriors would hand him the ball again scoring on a 22-yard touchdown to extend the lead.

Gettysburg kept Mifflin County limited in the first half. The Warriors led Mifflin County 27-7 at halftime.

The Huskies got the ball to start the second half.

Mifflin County ran the ball every time. The only throw from Hartung was to Green which would go the other way for a 65-yard pick six from Kayden Smoker, extending the lead over Mifflin County 33-7.

Mifflin County came up empty the next possession the drive after that.  The Huskies used their quick strike ability. Hartung found Green jumping up to make a catch over defenders and staying on his feet for a 95-yard receiving touchdown.

The Mifflin County defense collapsed. Burnett scored on a 50-yard rushing touchdown to give Gettysburg a big lead 40-14 with six seconds remaining in the third quarter.

Mifflin County Gavin Herrington led the night in tackles with 11.

Hunter Tipton, Avery Aurand, Dupree Reed, Brayan Aurand, Reese Christine, Jordyn Daly, Josh Maldonado Beamer, Nevin Farley, Peyton Kearns and Green all had tackles tonight.

The Huskies put 30 points up on the board when it was all done.  The Warriors would put 47 totaling 77 points on the board. In the second half things got interesting Mifflin County was credited three successful 2pt conversions helping them inch closer to their opponent.

The Warriors played good defense sacking Hartung multiple times.  Logan Baker applied pressure all night while Tristan Weilkert had a sack in the winner effort.

Mifflin County fell to Gettysburg 47-30 in a hard fout second half for the Huskies.

“We have to get better. We had some young kids playing. We made some good plays. They were skilled kids. Their defensive backs were better live than I thought they were on film. They were athletic, lots of athletes over there,” said Mifflin County coach Shane Breon. We got behind. We probably could have ran on them but when you get behind you are trying to catch up you got to try and throw the ball.  We made a mistake there and it took us out of reach for us. I’m proud of the way the kids played. We didn’t give up. I know they wouldn’t, they are good kids . We got to get ready to win next week. We have one more.”
