Both teams were strong on the mound on Wednesday, but Cumberland Valley was just a little bit stronger at the plate in their 3-2 victory over Mifflin County. Aidan Arnold started the game for the Huskies and recorded 13 outs.
The Huskies was right in it until the Eagles reached on an error in the sixth inning.
Cumberland Valley got on the board in the first inning after Micah LaPila doubled, scoring one run.
The Eagles added one run in the second. Holton Minor singled down the right field line on a full count, making the score 2-0.
Mifflin County tied the game in the top of the third thanks to a walk by Parker Crownover, and a ground out by Clay Ammon.
Curtis Shinn earned the win for Cumberland Valley. The reliever gave up one hit and zero runs over one and one-third innings, striking out two and walking none. Madden Weaver took the loss for Mifflin County. The hurler went one and two-thirds innings, giving up one run (zero earned) on zero hits, striking out one and walking two. Arnold started on the hill for the Huskies. The righty allowed six hits and two runs over four and one-third innings, striking out three and walking one. Kaden Schoenly started on the bump for Cumberland Valley. The starter surrendered two hits and two runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out nine and walking four.
Ammon led the team with one run batted in. Landon Haigh, Easton Lepley, and Evan Strohecker each collected one hit for Mifflin County.
Alex Crosby led the Eagles with two hits in two at bats. LaPila and Minor each drove in one run for Cumberland Valley . Crosby stole three bases.
Mifflin County Varsity welcomes Cedar Cliff on Friday for their next game.
