The Mifflin County Huskies baseball team bested Cumberland Valley Eagles 5-0 on Wednesday.
Mifflin County Varsity got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Madden Weaver walked, Tye Plank grounded out, and Logan Alexander grounded out, each scoring one run.
The Huskies added one run in the second. Landon Haigh singled to center field, making the score 4-0.
Mifflin County added one run in the third after Easton Lepley hit a sacrifice fly.
Grady Hoppel earned the win for the Huskies. The starter gave up five hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out five and walking none. Gavin Kendrick took the loss for Cumberland Valley. The starter went one and two-thirds innings, surrendering four runs on four hits, striking out none and walking three.
Alexander, Plank, Haigh, Lepley, and Weaver each drove in one run for the Huskies. Haigh went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Mifflin County in hits. Weaver led the Huskies with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating six walks for the game. Mifflin County were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Weaver made the most plays with six.
Siddh Patel set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Cumberland Valley with two hits in three at bats. The Eagles turned one double play in the game. Cumberland Valley didn’t commit a single error in the field. Alex Crosby had the most chances in the field with four.
Mifflin County will travel to Cumberland Valley for their next game on later that day.
