It was another strong overall performance by the Juniata softball team Wednesday as the Lady Indians defeated Newport 2-0 in a tough TVL contest.

Hurler Liz Gaisior once again was on her game striking out 18 en route to the one-hit shut out while going the distance.

Savannah Marshall crushed an RBI double on one of her two hits.

Sophie Smith hit a triple and scored on a Riley Lyter RBI.

Shay Armstrong also had two hits including a double, and Lexi Frontz added a single.

With the win Juniata improves 4-1 while Newport drops to 3-1.

The Lady Indians are back in action Thursday against Susquenita.
