LEWISTOWN – It wasn’t how the Foxpro Predators wanted to start their season, but late inning scoring carried the Lemont Ducks to 8-7 victory on Sunday.
The Predators held to a 6-3 lead heading into the top of the seventh inning when the Ducks went off and scored five runs in the frame to take a 8-6 lead.
But Foxpro wasn’t going to go away quietly, as in the bottom half of the seventh inning. The Predators got going as Austin Dunlap reached on an error from the third baseman and hustled his way to second base.
Dunlap then moved over to third after a wild pitch before being driven in by Jaxson Pupo to cut the lead down to 8-7 but that was as close as they were able to get as relief pitcher Gage Shell closed the game out and collected the save for Lemont.
Josh Rosefsky went 2-for-2 at the plate and had a run scored. Evan Pupo added a double and also collected two strikeouts in relief.
Starting pitcher Will Stambagh pitched six innings and had 10 strikeouts for the Predators.
The Predators start off the season at (0-1) and will look to rebound next Sunday as they will be doing battle with the Spring Mills Braves over at Penns Valley High School at 2 p.m.
