First on the day were seniors Wyatt Stroup and Joey Bomberger competing in the 3200 meter run.  Wyatt earned a medal by placing 3rd in a time of 9:28.52 while Joey placed 17th with a time of 9:48.95.  Next on the day was sophomore Sylvia Brubaker competing in the 1600 meter run.  Sylvia ran a 5:26.55 for 24th place.  Distance coach Jeff Miller said “I thought Joey and Wyatt raced competitively today.  This is their first 3200 hard effort this season and they are both where I would like to see them at this point in the track season.  This meet brings high level competition like they will see at states.  Wyatt showed he’s not afraid of anyone out there by taking the lead with 2 laps to go in the 3200 and hanging on to a 3rd place finish.  Joey learned some things in his 3200 that will help him when he’s racing his next hard 3200 race.  Sylvia didn’t have the race she wanted in the 1600, but this was her first hard 1600 in 4 months so it can take several of these high level competitive races to get back into racing at this level.  She will regroup and continue to work hard.  She just needs to gain confidence in her abilities.”
In the afternoon, senior Wyatt Ehrenzeller competed in the javelin.  Wyatt finished 16th by throwing a personal best distance of 155′ 5″.  Throwing coach Shane Yeater said “It was great to see Wyatt throw a PR and to gain experience by competing in a big invitational environment.  This experience should give Wyatt the confidence that he will need when it comes to high pressure meets like districts.”
