The Bald Eagle Eagles baseball team scored seven runs in the fifth inning, which helped them defeat Penns Valley 13-7 on Monday.  Brayden Dubbs singled, scoring two runs, an error scored one run, Wyatt Spackman singled, scoring two runs, Luke Hosband hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and an error scored one run.

The Eagles got on the board in the bottom of the second inning after Connor Perry walked, and Isaac Johnson singled, each scoring one run.

Bald Eagle Area extended their early lead with four runs in the bottom of the third thanks to RBI singles by Kaleb Irion and Johnson.

The Rams made the score 7-6 in the top of the fifth after Kurtz doubled, scoring two runs, Parsons singled, scoring one run, and Irion induced Harster to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.

Irion earned the win for Bald Eagle. The reliever gave up one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out three and walking none. Perry began the game for the Eagles. The starter gave up nine hits and seven runs (five earned) over four innings, striking out two and walking none. Miller started on the hill for Penns Valley. The pitcher allowed 11 hits and 13 runs (seven earned) over six innings, striking out four and walking seven.

Bald Eagle tallied 11 hits in the game. Hosband, Johnson, and Spackman each collected two hits for the Eagles. Johnson led Bald Eagle with three runs batted in. The second baseman went 2-for-4 on the day. The Eagles had patience at the plate, accumulating seven walks for the game. Perry and Hayden Stimer led the team with two free passes each.

The Rams amassed 10 hits in the game. Kurtz drove the middle of the lineup, leading Penns Valley with two runs batted in. The third baseman went 2-for-4 on the day. Kurtz and Miller each collected two hits for the Rams.

Bald Eagle Area plays at home on Monday against Central Cambria in their next game.
