Fairfield outlasts East Juniata in nail biter

On Saturday, the East Juniata boys basketball team found itself in a dogfight with a tough Fairfield team.

The two would battle in a nail biting contest, as the Tigers fell two points short, falling 44-42.

Offensively, the Tigers were led by Wrett Smith posting a 17-point performance. Teammate Sam Kopacki followed up with 15 in the loss.

The Knights were paced by Gabe Williams 16-point effort.

Fairfield started the contest taking the first quarter by a 12-8 advantage.

Things continued to roll taking the second quarter scoring as well, outscoring East Juniata 9-5.

When the two teams went into the intermission, the Knights held a 21-13 advantage.

East Juniata rallied in the second half posting an 11-10 advantage going into the final stanza.

Offensively, the Tigers started to sizzle scoring 18 while holding Fairfield to 13.

However, the comeback attempt came up just short falling 44-42.
