The Shippensburg University wrestling team won all three of its dual meets Saturday and did so in dominating fashion at the Waynesburg Duals inside the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse.

Shippensburg (3-0) opened its dual meet schedule by dispatching Washington & Jefferson, 34-12, Waynesburg, 43-6, and Fairmont State, 42-9.

Six Raider wrestlers went a perfect 3-0 Saturday, while four added bonus points in each of their three wins.

At the upperweights, freshman Trey Shoemaker (Lewistown, Pa./Mifflin County) and redshirt senior Danny Scheib (Hegins, Pa./Tri-Valley) recorded three pins at 197 and 285 pounds, respectively.

The Raiders also dominated the middleweights, where graduate Al Miscovich (Mount Pleasant, Pa./Mount Pleasant Area (UPJ)), freshman Mike Trainor (Cochranville, Pa./Octorara), graduate Avery Shay (New Fairfield, Ct./New Fairfield (Clarion)) and freshman Kyler Everly (Lewistown, Pa. Mifflin County) all notched three wins.

Trainor and Shay were able to tack on bonus points in all three of their victories at 149 and 157.

All told, the Raiders won all but four contested matches Saturday, and put up lopsided score lines despite forfeiting all three matches at 125 pounds.

Raider wrestling head coach Seth Bloomquist considered the team’s performance Saturday to be another strong early season statement.

“For being as young as they are they seem to have developed into a team that is ready to compete with our region,” Bloomquist noted.

Up next, the Raiders head to Elizabethtown for a Thanksgiving week dual meet against the Blue Jays Nov. 22.
