East Juniata junior Josef Book and senior Logan Strawser compete at the PTFCA Indoor Track and Field State Championship held at Penn State University on Sunday, February 26.
Josef Book was the first of the two to compete on the day. Josef hit a hurdle with his lead leg in the 60 meter hurdle trial causing him to fall and not be able to finish his race. Coach Jeff Miller said “Even though Josef had a disappointing day, he still had a great first indoor track season.”
Logan Strawser competed in the 3000 meter run. Logan was positioned in 7th and 8th place during most of the race, but moved up to finish 5th overall with a personal best time of 8:32.68. The winner of the race was Brian DiCola from Hatboro Horsham with a time of 8:26.34. Logan will be joining Brian as a teammate this fall at Penn State to run cross county. Coach Jeff Miller said “Logan ran a very impressive race considering all the more we threw at this indoor season. Also, Logan ran most of his training runs by himself in the dark in the mornings before school because he is also in the school musical Grease and they have practice after school. Logan is set up very nicely for the outdoor season.”
