The East Juniata boys basketball team got its season going in the right direction, topping Our Lady of Lourdes Regional 44-41.

Leading the way offensively for the Tigers was Jake Brackbill and Owen Dressler who both finished with 12 points.

Teammate Clark Ritzman just missed a double-digit performance finishing with nine.

Lourdes was led by Owen Sondri who posted a 13-point effort. Teammate Alex Hughes followed up with 12.

Lourdes open the first quarter outscoring East Juniata 16-8.

But in the second quarter, the East Juniata defense buckled down a kept Lourdes to just three points while its offense rolled to 18.

When the two teams went into the intermission, the Tigers led 26-21.

The Tigers added to its lead going into the final stanza, outscoring their opponent 10-9.

In the final stanza, East Juniata was able to hold on for the 44-41 victory.
