MOUNT UNION – Well Mount Union baseball fans! Recently, senior baseball player Dylan Shawver has signed his intent to go play college baseball at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. I got to do a little interview with him and got to know what led him into the decision to join up with RPI and what the future holds for him. I would like to thank Mr. Shawver for taking the time to answer my questions. Hope you all enjoy!

JY: How excited are you about going to RPI?
DS: I am super excited to go to RPI. It’s been a goal of mine for a while. Finding a good balance of elite schooling and a great baseball team.

JY: What did you like about RPI that made you want to sign with them?
DS: RPI is one of the best engineering schools in the east coast. To me, that was enough to make the decision.

JY: What are you most excited about playing baseball at the next level?
DS: The thing I am most excited for about playing collegiate baseball is traveling all over the east coast and playing the sport I love.

JY: What will you miss most about playing at Mount Union?
DS: Mount Union baseball is a tradition. Wearing a Trojan jersey is an honor. Just being able to play Trojan baseball knowing you are one of the top teams in the area is great.

JY: You are going to RPI to major in Civil Engineering, what do you like about Civil Engineering?
DS: In school, I have always excelled in STEM based subjects. That led me to engineering and roads and bridges always amused me. So, Civil Engineering was my decided Major.

JY: What do you say to the younger players who wish to play in college?
DS: Don’t let no one tell you you’re not good enough. Good work ethic, and dedication to the sport and you’ll make it far.

That was my one on one interview with Dylan Shawver. Again, I personally would like to thank Shawver for taking the time to answer my questions and wish him the best of luck at RPI as well as wishing him and the Engineers the best of luck as they compete in the Liberty League.

Congrats to you Dylan!

Until Next Time!
