Dragons too much for young Bellefonte squad

Thursday, the Bellefonte baseball team could not keep pace with Central 8-3 on at Governor’s Park.

The Red Raiders got on the board in the first inning after Parker VonGunden singled, scoring one run.

Lukas Black homered to left field, which helped Central tie the game at one in the top of the third.

A double by Wyatt Dilling gave the

Dragons the lead, 3-1, in the top of the seventh.

Evan Mattern singled to center field, which helped Bellefonte tie the game at three in the bottom of the seventh.

Central flipped the game on its head in the top of the twelfth, scoring five runs on three hits to take the lead, 8-3. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Josh Beltz that drove in two.

Mason Byler earned the win for the  Dragons. The pitcher allowed five hits and two runs over six innings, striking out nine and walking three. Carsen Henry took the loss for Bellefonte. The reliever went four innings, giving up five runs (four earned) on three hits, striking out none and walking three.

Zach Lehman led things off on the bump for Raiders . The starting pitcher allowed four hits and one run over four innings, striking out three and walking none. Coltin Harbaugh led things off on the bump for Central . The hurler gave up four hits and one run over six innings, striking out four and walking three.

The Red Raiders collected nine hits in the game. Mattern provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Bellefonte with two runs batted in. The number three hitter went 2-for-6 on the day. Mattern and VonGunden each collected two hits for Bellefonte.

Oliver Thornburg paced Bellefonte with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up six walks for the game.

The Red Raiders turned one double play in the game.

Central piled up 13 hits in the game. Number eight hitter, Jesse Muthler, showed the depth of the Dragons lineup, by leading them with three hits in six at bats. Dilling, Beltz, and Black each drove in two runs for Central Dragons Varsity. Jay Hoenstine and Kyle Klotz each collected multiple hits for Central . Klotz stole two bases. the Dragons were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error.

Klotz made the most plays with 13.
