WINGATE – Crown them the champs!
Yesterday the Bellefonte baseball team went head-to-head with rival Bald Eagle Area in a game with the Mountain Championship at stake.
Slow and steady won the race yesterday as the Red Raiders scored two in the first, three in the fourth and two in the seventh to win the contest and the final Mountain League championship, 7-1.
Leading the way offensively was Dominic Caperella who sizzled at the plate with a 3-for-4 effort. Teammates Trevor Johnson and Peyton Vancas both posted two hits in the win. Johnson scored three times from the lead off position.
On the mound, Vancas held the Eagles to just three hits in the game en route to the victory.
Kaden Burns posted two of the three Eagles hits. Picking up the third hit was Tayten Yoder.
