Both teams were strong on the bump on Monday, but Clearfield was just a little bit stronger at the plate in their 2-1 victory over Bald Eagle in baseball action. Connor Perry started the game for the Eagles and recorded 18 outs.
Bald Eagle lost despite out-hitting Clearfield three to one. Kaleb Irion, Brayden Dubbs, and Dawson Lomison each collected one hit for the Eagles.
Clearfield got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Bald Eagle committed an error, and Colton Bumbarger grounded out, each scoring one run.
Craig Mays earned the win for Clearfield. The starting pitcher gave up three hits and one run over six and two-thirds innings, striking out eight and walking three. Perry took the loss for the Eagles. The starting pitcher went six innings, giving up two runs (zero earned) on one hit, striking out five and walking two.
Teagun Runkle led Bald Eagle with one run batted in.
Bumbarger and Matt Irvin were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Clearfield. Noah Wriglesworth went 1-for-3 at the plate to lead Clearfield in hits. Clearfield turned one double play in the game.
Next up for Bald Eagle Area is a game against Bishop Carroll on Tuesday.
