SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Shippensburg University senior Chayce Macknair (Lewistown, Pa./Mifflin County) was named the 2023 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Champion Scholar for men’s outdoor track & field on Saturday in a ceremony at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

Macknair, a history major seeking social studies teaching certification, has maintained a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) through 108 completed credits.

He becomes the seventh Raider spanning all sports to be named a PSAC Champion Scholar. Macknair is the first individual to be honored as the PSAC Champion Scholar for men’s outdoor track & field.

The PSAC Champion Scholar Awards are modeled after the NCAA’s Elite 90 award and honor the student-athlete with the top GPA who is competing at the site of each of the PSAC’s 23 team championship finals.

The selection criteria for the Champion Scholar Awards is identical to that of the NCAA Elite 90 awards, which honor the student-athlete with the top GPA at each of the championship finals sites of the NCAA championships across all three divisions – I, II, and III.
