CHAMBERSBURG—Bald Eagle Area crowned two champions and one second at the MyHouse Trojan Wars on Friday.

Lucas Fye (121) and Caleb Close (172) won titles for the Eagles,with Coen Bainey (127) falling in the finals.

Fye escaped with nine seconds remaining to pull out the 4-3 victory over West Perry’s Jackson Rush. Fye built a 3-0 lead with a takedown in the first and an escape in the second. Rush battled back to tie it with an escape and takedown in the third before Fye’s escape.

Close made a takedown in the first and an escape in the second stand–up in a 3-2 victory over Danny Haubert of Palisades.

Bainey pinned his way into the finals before dropping a hard–fought 3-1 decision to Anthony Lucchiani of Sherando (VA). After a scoreless first period, Bainey chose down and escaped for the only scoring in the second. Lucchiani tied it in the third with an escape. He got the match-winning takedown with two seconds left in regulation.

The Eagles ended the competition in fifth place in the team standings with 139.5 points. South Carroll (MD) won the team title with 162 points.

BEA hosts Clearfield on Tuesday, January 3.

Powerade

State College crowned four medalists at the prestigious Powerade Tournament at Canon-McMillan High School on Friday.

The Little Lions picked up thirds from Pierson Manville (139) and Nick Pavlechko (285), a fifth from Asher Cunningham (145), and an eighth from Hayden Cunningham (133).

Manville lost in the semifinals by a 1-0 score to New Jersey state champ Tyler Vazquez of Delbarton. The Little Lion junior defeated Central Mountain’s Luke Simcox 5-2 for third in a battle of the top two seeds.

Pavlechko got pinned in the semifinals by PIAA Class 2A champion Riley Robell of Bishop McDevitt in 3:41. Pavlechko decked Trinity’s Ty Banco in 1:32 for third.

Asher Cunningham dropped a tough 3-2 decision to AA top-ranked Vince Bouzakis of Notre Dame-Green Pond in the quarterfinals. The Little Lion sophomore battled back to defeat West Allegheny’s Nico Taddy, 2-1.

Hayden Cunningham lost in the eighth-place match to Zeno Moore of Lake Highland Prep (FL), 5-4.

State College scored 93 points to finish 11th out of 67 teams. Wyoming Seminary won the Powerade with a score of 237.5.

The Little Lions return to action on Tuesday, January 3, at Williamsport.
