Burnham tops McVeytown in Thursday Babe Ruth action

BURNHAM – Burnham Took On McVeytown in a Babe Ruth Match up on a Thursday Night.

It was a great night for baseball at the Jamboree fairgrounds!!

Early on McVeytown’s Catcher Carson Cherry drove in McVeytown’s first run of the ball game to give McVeytown a 1-0 lead scoring on the play was Versatile Elliot Yetter. Starting pitcher Yetter was unable to give his team much of productivity on the mound going just one third of an inning. Yetter would swap positions with Trayton Sheaffer Sheaffer would go to work on the mound to give his team 45 pitches and a couples innings of work.

The bats were loud tonight for Burnham batting around in the Home half of the third inning Fletcher Wilson did the damage with hitting an inside the park Homerun Chase Leister Tripled in the same inning. Leister had a strong outing giving his team four strong innings in the four innings leister struck out seven batters.

Wilson followed with a strong outing in relief pitching a 1-2-3 inning in the top half of the 5th inning.

Wilson had success at the plate recording two hits in four at bats Jaden Smith, brother of Xaiver Smith, had a good showing at the plate recording a double and a single.

Smith had a lot of pop in his bat, Landon Haigh also recorded two hits Haigh caught behind the plate backing up his pitchers tonight with alot of success.

Cullen Busch was able to give his team innings on the mound after his fellow teammates on the mound got hit around by Burnham.

Burnham played strong defense, taking away hits from McVeytown. McVeytown struggled on the defensive side with a few errors in the game that helped Burnham out.

Despite the Great at bats from Burnham, Liam Shaffer smashed a ball to the fence to earn a RBI Triple.

But Burnham was not done. Lindley doubled to left field.

Burnham would 10-Run McVeytown to a 12-2 victory in a six inning affair.
