Susquenita defeated Juniata 18-1 on Friday thanks in part to 10 runs in the first inning.

The Lady Blackhawks jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Kaydon Brandt singled, scoring one run, Lena Beckenbaugh singled, scoring two runs, Addison Fritz singled, scoring two runs, Emma Massie singled, scoring one run, Kylah Fleisher singled, scoring one run, and Ayahna Fleisher homered to center field, scoring three runs.

Susquenita added one run in the second. Fleisher singled down the left field line, making the score 11-1.

Susquenita extended their early lead with seven runs in the top of the third thanks to RBI singles by Fleisher, Beckenbaugh, Tierney Stuempfle, Fritz, and Brandt.

Fleisher earned the win for the Blackhawks. The hurler allowed two hits and one run over three innings, striking out five and walking one. Destiny Yohn took the loss for Juniata Varsity Indians. The hurler went one and one-third innings, giving up eight runs (seven earned) on nine hits, striking out one and walking none. Addison Rutherford led things off in the circle for the Lady Indians. The starting pitcher surrendered five hits and nine runs (five earned) over two-thirds of an inning, striking out one and walking one.

Savannah Marshall led Juniata with one run batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. Marshall and Ava Lauver each collected one hit for the Indians.

Susquenita piled up 15 hits in the game. Beckenbaugh and Brandt each collected three hits for Susquenita. Fleisher and Fritz each drove in four runs for the Blackhawks. Fleisher collected two hits for Susquenita in three at bats. Susquenita stole seven bases in the game. The Blackhawks didn’t commit a single error in the field. Beckenbaugh had the most chances in the field with five.

Juniata will travel to Line Mountain for their next game on Monday.
