WINGATE – Defending their turf.

After a convincing shut out 2-0 win over Central Mountain on Saturday, the Bald Eagle girls hosted Huntingdon Tuesday in a Mountain League contest.

For the second consecutive outing, the Lady Eagle’s defense came ready for the challenge and came out with flying colors posting a 3-0 win over the Bearcats.

“It’s our second shut out in a row. I’m not sure how many we’ve had for the season. The defense played really well today. We didn’t give up too many chances and not may opportunities,” said Bald Eagle coach Jared Moore. “The one’s that went through Ang (Bald Eagle goalie Angelina Grieb) was right there. They got a good system working.”

Providing the offensive punch on the night was Heather Leskovansky who dropped in two goals in the 3-0 victory.

Chipping in with a third goal for the Lady Eagles was Maura Cingle.

Starting off the contest, the Eagles offense pushed the ball immediately downfield right on the Bearcats side of the 50.

Despite short trips up in the Eagles side, Huntingdon posted the first shot of the game.

Almost eight minutes in, the Eagles speed helped lead to their first goal of the game.

After numerous runs down in transition, the Eagles were able to punch it through at 32:31 when Leskovansky got ahead of the defenders and hit a blast past Huntingdon goalie, Molly Millar, making it a 1-0 lead.

There were numerous fielding changes as Huntingdon tried to tie the game while the Eagles tried to up their lead to two.

Moving just below the 15-minute mark, the Lady Eagles struck again.

Cingle sent a pass out in front of a hustling Leskovansky. From there, Leskovansky took care of the rest posting another Eagle goal at 14:33.

Bald Eagle was not done yet as it was able to put in an insurance goal before the two teams went into the intermission.

This time, Cingle called her own number as she found a crack in the Huntingdon defense, scoring goal number three, putting the Eagles in solid shape going into the second half.

From there the defense took over and they were as solid as a brick wall, only allowing two clean shots in the second while adding to its team’s victory.

Peeking around the corner is rival Bellefonte Wednesday.

Last meeting, Bald Eagle escaped on a late score.

Bellefonte fell tonight 3-1 to Tyrone.
