Yesterday at the PIAA Foundation Cross Country Invitational, the Bellefonte cross country team had a lot of good competition around them.
Here are some of their performances on the PA State course.
Varsity Girls:
Sophomore Natalie Jolley led the Lady Raiders girls team to a 95th place finish with a time of 23:10. Teammates Victoria Schellenberg and Emma Raish placed 121st and 122nd. Both Schellenberg and Raish ran a time of 23:58. Finishing out the top five for the Bellefonte girls was Emma Burger placing 134th and Anna Tyson 161st. There were 223 runners in the race the Bellefonte girls ran in.
“It was great to see our team get out on this course and be in one of the biggest races,” said Bellefonte coach Chad Wiler. “The more you see and run this course, the more you understand it.”
On the Varsity Boys side.
Alex Crist placed 46th with a time of 18:06 on a course that became a slip and slide for a lot of runners. Running a time of 19:27 for both Keith Eicholtz and Caleb Vinnedge, they placed 114th and 115th. Alex Mansfield was 197th. Freshman Maverick Muchmore had a very good race for himself placing 235th on the state course. The boys team even with the racing conditions from Saturday, know who they are and are keeping their goals for the season in mind.
