On a warm evening at Governors Park, Bellefonte’s cross country teams finish the day with wins over Tyrone. Bellefonte Girls move to 2-1 and the boys move to 3-0 for the season.
On the Girls side, Seniors Alexis Fravel and Ruthann Smoyer helped their team with their finishes and personal bests of the season at home. Fravel ran a time of 26:42 placing 5th overall and Smoyer placed 6th with a time of 26:47. Winning the race was Bellefonte’s Addison Fry with a time of 22:23. Right behind Fry, teammate Natalie Jolley placed second with a time of 22:33. Emma Burger placed 4th and Anna Tyson placed 7th giving the girls the win over Tyrone 18-41.
For the boys, they bested Tyrone 24-32 with Senior Kaiden Williams taking the win with a time of 18:44. Maverick Muchmore finished runner up in the race with a time of 18:53. Jonathan Gasper placed 4th and Elijah Davis placed 6th. Kaiden Musser took 12th as Bellefonte’s 5th runner.
Once again this was a great opportunity for our boys and girls teams to get another race in the bank and another step towards our season’s goals.
Bellefonte’s Junior High teams had many personal bests once again as they competed after the conclusion of the Varsity races. Gunther Kull won the boys race and Alissa Kyte-Yech was Bellefonte’s top girl finisher on the two mile course. Kull ran with a finish time of 13:03 and Kyte-Yech ran a time of 16:56.
Other Junior high times were Bowen Williams 13:58 placing 3rd. Ethan Karmelita ran a 14:41 and Braeden Strohm 15:49. Justin Roberts and Hyrum Jones 17:47 and 17:48. Katie Spotts and Megan Showers 19:22and 19:23. Haddie Lutz 19:43 and Molly Showers 20:10.
Bellefonte’s next competition will be at the Red Flash Invitational hosted by Saint Francis University at B & D acres. All of our high school and junior high runners will be racing and competing this Saturday 9/14/2024.
