Bellefonte travelled to the Maple Crest Golf Course for the 2024 Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference championships. The entire program had an outstanding day of competitions for both on the high school and junior high side.
The first race of the day came with the girls varsity. Addison Fry, Natalie Jolley, Emma Burger, Anna Tyson, Alexis Fravel and Ruthann Smoyer all had personal best races of their running career or season bests. Addison had a massive PR going sub 20 minutes with a time of 19:47. Natalie ran her personal best race ever with a time of 20:41. Both earned LHAC top 20 honors as Fry placed 9th and Jolley placed 20th. Emma Burger had a very impressive day with a time of 22:12 and placed 48th. Anna Tyson had a season best race with a time of 24:35. Two more PR’s from Alexis Fravel 24:39 and Ruthann Smoyer 26:42. Our girls team started off the conference championship day with a lot of excitement after their race. Very proud of every single one of them!
Next up was the boys varsity race where our top 3 guys finished in the top 8 overall in the race. All three earned LHAC top 20 honors. Starting with Kaiden Williams who had another photo finish, ran an incredible 16:38 placing 2nd overall. Maverick Muchmore also went sub 17 minutes running a 16:56 placing 6th place. Freshman Jonathan Gasper was right behind placing 8th with a 17:02. Kaiden Musser ran a PR of 24:31 and Phoenix Torres also ran a PR of 25:21. Our boys had a great day and now we have 10 days to prepare for the Districts 6 championships. Very proud of our entire high school team!
Girls and boys varsity teams next race will be the AA District 6 championships.
For the third and forth races of the day were the junior high races. Alissa Kyte-Yech placed 18th overall with a time of 10:36 on the 1.55 mile course. Kathryn Spotts ran a 11:23, Emily Moretz ran a 11:52 and Emma Crater 12:13. Haddie Lutz 12:23, Megan Showers 12:36 and Molly Showers 12:55. It is so good to see our junior high girls run such a strong race today.
Gunther Kull placed 4th overall with a time of 9:00. Bowen Williams had a very good day placing 10th with a tie of 9:22. Both Kull and Williams earned LHAC top 15 honors. Ethan Karmelita ran a 10:19 and Braeden Strohm 10:26. Hudson Manning 11:06 and Justin Roberts 11:38. Awesome job boys!
Our junior high teams will conclude their season this Saturday at the Lock Haven Middle School Championships.
