Both teams were strong in the circle on Friday, but the Forest Hills softball team was just a little bit stronger at the plate in their 3-1 victory over Bellefonte . Abby Herr started the game for the Lady Raiders and recorded 11 outs.
A solo home run to center field by Brooke Swanger put Bellefonte on the board in the top of the second.
The Rangers took the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning after Ana Spangler homered to left field, and Trista Cruley grounded out, each scoring one run.
Herr started in the circle for the Lady Raiders. The starting pitcher allowed three hits and two runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking one. Avery Smiach led things off in the circle for Forest Hills. The starting pitcher allowed four hits and one run over six and one-third innings, striking out 12 and walking one.
The Lady Raiders’s Sloan Moore, the number nine hitter, led Bellefonte with two hits in two at bats. Swanger led the Lady Raiders with one run batted in. Swanger went 1-for-3 on the day.
Spangler provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the Rangers with two runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Aubrey Smiach, Morgan Gdula, Aivah Maul, Spangler, Cruley, and Taylor Snyder each collected one hit for the Rangers. Forest Hills didn’t commit a single error in the field. Smiach had the most chances in the field with one.
Bellefonte will travel to Bishop Guilfoyle Varsity Lady Marauders for their next game on Tuesday.
