Bellefonte Lady Raiders Captures Lead Late In Victory Over Lady Mounties

The Bellefonte Lady Raiders softball team topped the Lady Mounties 3-2 on Monday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at two in the top of the seventh when Taylor Brown singled, scoring one run.

Both teams were strong in the circle. Bellefonte pitchers struck out 10, while the Lady Mounties sat down five.

Philipsburg-Osceola were the first to get on the board in the third when Macie Bush laid down a sacrifice bunt, scoring one run.

The Lady Raiders captured the lead, 3-2, in the top of the seventh when Madison Kellogg homered to right field, scoring two runs, and Brown singled, scoring one run.

Adrienne Masullo began the game for Bellefonte. The hurler gave up one hit and one run (zero earned) over four innings, striking out four and walking two. Alivia Bizzarri started the game for Lady Mounties. The starter allowed eight hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out five and walking one. Abby Herr appeared in relief for the Lady Raiders.

Kellogg went 1-for-1 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Alaina  Smith led Bellefonte with two hits in four at bats.

Bizzarri led the Lady Mounties with one run batted in. The number three hitter went 1-for-4 on the day. Bizzarri, Mia Butler, and Emily Gustkey each collected one hit for P-O.

Next up for Bellefonte Varsity is a game against Hollidaysburg on Wednesday.
