Bellefonte improves to 2-0, tops Chestnut Ridge

BELLEFONTE- With the foundation built in the Bellefonte football squads new culture last season, the results have been starting to blossom with the Red Raiders impressive start.

After defeating a tough Central team on the road to open their 2024 campaign, Bellefonte had its second tough opponent in as many weeks as they hosted Chestnut Ridge Friday at home in the friendly confines of Rodgers Stadium.

The Red Raiders improved to 2-0 on the season, defeating Chestnut Ridge 28-11.

Offensively, Bellefonte was able to get in the scoreboard first on a 73-yard run by Aden Howell early in the first. Howell finished with over a 100 yards on the ground.

However in the second quarter, the Lions cut the Red Raider lead to four as they booted a 27-yard field goal, making it a 7-3 contest going into the intermission.

Early into the third, Bellefonte quarterback Liam Halterman went to the air and found Jaeden Gabrovsek on a 50-yard hook up for the score.

However, the Lions battled back with a score of their own. Hayden Webb muscled out a 4-yard touchdown, cutting it to a 14-11 game.

But the Red Raiders would not be denied on this night as Halterman and his line helped extend the lead, scoring on a 4-yard run with 7:02 left in the contest.

Bellefonte added an insurance score to put the game on ice when Halterman hooked up with Gabrovsek once again, this time for a 20-yard TD pass.
