It was an intense battle.
In true Mountain League fashion two of its toughest baseball teams met up for an 8-inning thriller.
Bellefonte went toe-to-toe with Penns Valley after falling behind early, taking the Rams to eight innings before Triston Heckman singled in Braedon Kormanic, giving the Red Raiders the 7-6 8-inning contest.
Alex Ebeling picked up the extra inning win, coming in late for two innings. Ebeling went two innings, allowing one run on one hit and walking zero.
The game was tied at six with Bellefonte batting in the bottom of the eighth.
Triston Heckman notched the RBI game-winning hit.
The Rams posted eight hits in the contest. Leading the way was Miles Brooks who busted out with three hits while teammates Dakota Brodzina and Colby Sweitzer finished with two.
Bellefonte got major offensive contributions from Derek Fravel who posted four hits on the day. Heckman had one hit but managed to provide his team with four RBIs.
Penns Valley Area scored first in the first inning, plating two.
McClain Welshans opened things with a walk.
Brodzina added a base runner on a single. Teammate Ty Houtz walks as well.
Welshans scored on a passed ball, making it a 1-0 contest. Luke Confer scores as well on a passed ball, taking a 2-0 advantage into the bottom of the inning.
Bellefonte cut the Penns Valley lead to one when Trevor Johnson scored on a Rams miscue.
Both teams played two runs in the third.
Penns Valley added one more run in the top of the fifth, to take a 5-3 advantage.
But the Red Raiders refused to give up the victory. Bellefonte notched two in the bottom of the inning, giving them a 6-5 advantage.
Penns Valley sent the game into extra innings as it brought around Brooks smacks an RBI single scoring a sliding Sweitzer at the plate.
However, the Red Raiders took the game into extras and was able to break out with a run in the eighth, ending the contest and moves the Bellefonte winning streak to 10.
With the loss, Penns Valley falls to 3-5.
