CRESSON – Primed and ready to go, the Bellefonte softball team joined their baseball brethren as they also traveled to Mount Aloysius for their late afternoon contest versus an 8-5 Carrick.

The Lady Raiders (15-2), are coming off a win in the District 6 Class AAAA championship game against Juniata, was looking to keep their season alive against the Raiders (8-5).

In the end, the night belonged to pitcher Abby Herr as she dominated in the circle allowing just one hit and one run while striking out nine in the contest.

Taking the loss for the Raiders was

Aubrey Czapko. Offensively, Czapko went 1-for-1 at the plate to lead Carrick Varsity Raiders in hits.

Despite the wind, rain and blustery conditions, the offense was not hampered at all for the players, especially Bellefonte.

“ The weather was kind of unexpected. We were thinking it was going to be sunny and 70s. So to battle through that this late in the season it was great on their part,” said Bellefonte coach Erica DeVinney. “We’ve had bad weather the whole season so they’re used to it. I’m very proud of them working through it.”

Multiple hitters for the game were Sadie Ripka (2-for-4 RBI, run), Adrienne Masullo (2-for-2 2runs, RBI) and Sloan Moore (2-for-2 3RBIs, 2runs ).

Offensively, the Lady Raiders pounded out 16 hits in the victory.

The game was highlighted by an Inside-the-Park home run by Sloan Moore.

Bellefonte squad wasted little time on getting on the scoreboard posting four first inning runs after getting Carrick down 1-2-3 in the first.

But the Lady Raiders made sure the stalemate would end there, posting four runs in their part of the victory.

Regan Manning got the ball rolling.

Bellefonte was able to jump out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Manning drew a walk, scoring one run, Riley Santostefano singled, scoring two runs, and Masullo singled, scoring one run, making it a quick 4-0 Bellefonte lead.

Both teams were both unsuccessful in their second inning at bats.

However, the Bellefonte bats came alive in the third adding three more to their lead.

With the score hanging at 7-0, the

Lady Raiders finished the game with the win thanks in part to nine runs in the fourth inning.  Manning started things off as she drew a walk, scoring one run, a dropped third strike scored one run, Masullo drew a walk, scoring one run, Herr doubled, scoring one run, Moore hit an inside the park home run, scoring two runs, Taylor Brown doubled, scoring two runs, and Jaylee Lose singled, scoring one run.

Bellefonte was able end the game in the fifth, thanks to that nine run inning en route to the win.

Bellefonte will be back in action Monday in the official first round of PIAA state competition.
