Bellefonte girls fall to undefeated Hollidaysburg team

BELLEFONTE – It was the crafty veterans versus the young upstarts Tuesday night when the undefeated 8-0 Hollidaysburg girls went up against the young and feisty Bellefonte team in Mountain League action.

The veteran Tigers would be too much on this night as they would defeat the Lady Raiders 65-20.

Offensively, Hollidaysburg went  down low early and often to Alison Hatajik as she finished with 25 points and 6-rebound evening.

“Hollidaysburg is very good team. They’re well coached. They are very talented,” said Bellefonte coach Marcus Toomer. “We are figuring things out and working through those things. The girls played hard the whole game.”

Bellefonte got inspired effort from Taylor Brown who scored six points and pulled down 10 rebounds.

Maria Cotter was fearless going in the middle trying to create some offense for the Lady Red Raiders. She finished with four. She also had a block, a steal and two assists.

Bellefonte finished with a total of 21 rebounds.

In the first quarter, the Tigers got the ball to Hatajik as she muscled her way to 11 in the period. When the first quarter finished, Hollidaysburg led 24-9.

Leading the Red Raiders in the period was Cotter with four.

The Tigers offense continued to add onto its lead as the added 18 while Bellefonte finished with seven.

Going into the intermission, Hollidaysburg held a 42-16 advantage.

The Tigers continued in the second half and went on for the victory.
