ALTOONA – The Bellefonte boys soccer team met a familiar foe in their District 6 Championship game Tuesday in Hollidaysburg.

It was a match between the Mountain League champions against the runner ups.

Early on, the Red Raiders opened with a 2-0 advantage.

But a second half hat trick by Hollidaysburg Nate Crum lifted the Golden Tigers to a 6-3 contest.

“It’s been like that every time we’ve played them this year.  We’d jump out and get a lead or something like that on them and then we’d take a little break defensively and we give up a goal or two,” said Bellefonte coach Scott Martz. “That’s what we did tonight. But I was impressed when we were down 3-2 the guys battled back and tied it at three.”

“At halftime we had a good talk. We made a few minor adjustments. I think there toward the end we got a little tired and they advantage of that on us.”

Bellefonte scored the first goal on the night when Collin Sharp posted an unassisted goal at 32:39. Sharp hit the upper corner to put his team in the lead.

Having the early lead and momentum, the Red Raiders were able to continue to push the ball into the Golden Tigers end of the field.

Brady Wertz notched an unassisted goal of his own at 19:16, putting the Red Raiders up by two.

But the quick strike offense of the Golden Tigers bounced back to take the lead.

Minutes later, Hollidaysburg would again find itself threatening the Bellefonte goal area. Tryninewski notched his second goal of the night hitting on an unassisted goal at 9:14.

Going into the second, both team’s battled to get that goal that would give them the mental edge.

There was no scoring by either for half of the second. Both defenses stood strong.

But at the 20:34 mark, Crum hit his first work of the game, breaking the tie.

Bellefonte tried to find the tying goal but they had a tough time breaking through the Tigers defensive back-third.

Crum gave his team an insurance goal at 9:27.

With time running out, Crum added the hat trick with 1:22 left.

Bellefonte goalie Elijah Davis finished with nine saves.

Despite the loss, the Red Raiders left the field as D6 runners up.
