Both teams were strong on the mound on Wednesday, but Huntingdon defeated Bellefonte baseball 3-0. Brock Bryson started the game for the Bearcats and recorded 15 outs.
Huntingdon didn’t take the lead until later in the game. The game was tied at zero in the bottom of the fifth when Bowden Woodward homered to right field, scoring three runs.
Bryson earned the win for the Bearcats. The hurler surrendered four hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out nine and walking five. Parker Capparelle took the loss for Bellefonte. The reliever went three innings, surrendering three runs on three hits, striking out one and walking two. Zach Lehman started on the bump for the Red Raiders .
The starter gave up one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out one and walking one.
Connor Moore tossed two innings of no-run ball for Huntingdon min relief. The hurler gave up one hit, striking out none and walking two.
Woodward drove the middle of the lineup, leading Huntingdon with three runs batted in. The catcher went 2-for-3 on the day. The Bearcats turned three double plays in the game.
Leadoff hitter Peyton Vancas led Bellefonte with three hits in three at bats. Isaac Gall paced the Red Raiders with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying seven walks for the game. Bellefonte didn’t commit a single error in the field. Oliver Thornburg had the most chances in the field with six.
Huntingdon will travel to Chestnut Ridge for their next game on Friday.
