Picking up a clutch win!
Thursday night the Bald Eagle girls soccer team found themselves battling Tyrone in an overtime period.
The Eagles would pick up the win as Bald Eagle posted an overtime goal by Sybil Thompson, 5-4. Thompson finished her night with the hat trick.
Both teams finished their day with 12 shots on goal while the Lady Eagles led in corners 8-2.
“What a senior night! The game was back and forth all night. I felt like we had moments where we looked brilliant and moments where we lacked discipline and Tyrone countered us well,” said Bald Eagle Area coach Jared Moore. “We continued to plug away and Sybil Thompson continued to come up big time after time when we needed her. She drew a pk that Adrienne Hacker finished, she drew a foul just outside the box and scored on a free kick herself, and she came up clutch in overtime by chipping the keeper from a tough side angle to finish her hat trick.”
BEA goalie Makayla Spicer finished with eight saves while Tyrone’s goalkeeper Piper Sparklin finished with seven.
Bald Eagle Area led off the scoring when Makenzie Bickle took a pass from Sybil Thompson for the goal at 0:21.
Tyrone tied the game at one at 3:09.
BEA Adrienne Hacker (PK) 18:17;
Once again, the Golden Eagles tied things at 26:00.
Back jumped Bald Eagle into the lead on a Sybil Thompson goal off a Savanna Albright assist at 34:37.
Once again, Tyrone would not stay down, tying the game for the third time.
Thompson notched her second goal on an unassisted shot at 64:03.
For the fourth time in contest, Tyrone tied the contest.
But Thompson ended the contest. Thompson scored on a pass from Heidi Eveleth, giving the Eagles another victory.
“The one thing about this team that has been steadfast all season from the defense to the midfield, to the front, they never give up and they continue to play hard,” said Moore. “It showed tonight and I’m really proud that they got the win.”
