Bald Eagle softball opens up new home with 18-0 victory

WINGATE – A perfect start!

The Bald Eagle Area softball team improved to 2-0 on the season topping Huntingdon in Mountain League action, winning 18-0.

The highlight of the contest was the debut of the new home for the Lady Eagles.  The new field is now located at the High School.

Leading the onslaught of runs was slugger Ava Stere.

Stere finished the contest in style, posting a grand slam ending the game in the bottom of 3rd inning. Quite a way to start play at home.

Taking the win on the mound for the Lady Eagles was Sierra Albright. She was the winning pitcher. tossed a one-hit shut out while sending eight Bearcats down via the strike out. Others making statements offensively for the Eagles were Kendra Uberti (walk, run scored)

Olivia Boone, (single, walk, run scored, 2 RBI), Shae Housel (single, walk and 2 runs scored), Taylor Habovick (2 singles, 2 walks, 4 runs scored and 2 RBI), Stere (grand slam, single, walk, 2 runs and 5 RBI)

, Kailey Eckert (2 singles, walk and 3 runs scored), Casey Angellotti (run scored), Sydney Thompson (single, walk, 2 runs scored and 4 RBI), Sierra Albright (RBI), Rachel Bryan (triple, single, walk, run scored and 4 RBI) and Alyssa King (2 walks, 2 runs scored and RBI).
