Bald Eagle goes undefeated at Juniata Duals

MIFFLINTOWN – The Bald Eagle Area wrestlers traveled south to participate in the Juniata Duals Saturday.

They made the most of the opportunity as the Eagles went undefeated on the day to capture the Juniata Duals championship going a perfect 4-0 on the day.

In their match against West Perry, the Eagles muscled out a 37-28 victory.

At 152, Jeffre Pifer pinned Carter  Nace with a fall at 1:02.

After a small run by the Mustangs, the winning started again for the Eagles at189. Caleb  Close took a major decision over Quade Boden MD 9-1.

Things continued to soar for the Eagles at 215. Nathaniel Fry picked up six points for his team pinning Matthew Rhoads at 0:38.

At 106, Eagle Liam Purcell found himself in a close battle with Ethan Rea, winning by a 4-2 decision.

113-pounder Kayson Tice pinned Hayden Quaker in the third period at the 4:30 mark.

Veteran 120-pounder Lucas  Fye notched an 8-2 contest over the Blackhawk’s Jackson Rush.

At 126, Coen Bainey pinned Adam Yoder at 1:03.

Rounding out things for the Eagles at 132, Connor Maney blanked Cooper Nace 7-0, to secure the victory for the Eagles.

Bald Eagle Area 51, Juniata 17

In their match against Juniata, the Eagles wrestled hard and came out the victors of a 51-7 victory.

120-pounder Lucas Fye pinned Colton Rowles at 1:04.

Bald Eagles’ Coen Bainey took the 126-pound weight class with a pin over Ryder Smith at 1:18.

Juniata took the match at 132 when Casey Smith outlasted Connor Maney by a 21-7 major decision.

The Indians won again at 138. Taylor Smith pinned the Eagles Hunter Ishler at 0:58.

At 145, Bald Eagles Mason Reese pinned Javier Lopez at 0:46.

Bald Eagle continued to roll at 152. Bald Eagles’ Gavin Bennett pinned Charlie Telfer at 1:28.

160-pounder Jeffre Pifer pinned Juniata’s Wesley Woodward at 3:24.

The Indians picked up another match at 172 when Harrison Mummah won a close 7-3 decision over Shawn  Knepp.

At 189, Caleb  Close gave the Eagles another win by pin as he took the fall over Kelton Bonnell at 1:12.

The Bald Eagles Gage Gardner got the win at 215 with a forfeit.

In the heavyweight division at 285, Bald Eagles Eric Clark pinned Jason Goss by fall at 0:56.

Juniata won again at 106. The Indians’ Anthony Maradiaga won by a major decision of 11-1 over Liam Purcell.

Rounding out the match at 113, Bald Eagle’s Kayson Tice defeated Joey Bomberger by a 5-2 decision.

In the Bald Eagle Area match against Susquenita, the Eagles dominated from beginning to end posting a 66-9 win over the Blackhawks.

In their final match of the day, Bald Eagle Area tossed a rare shut out over Susquehanna Twp 78-0.

The win completed the sweep of their opponents and the victory.
