Bald Eagle girls win yet another OT thriller

Overtime periods are nothing new to the Bald Eagle girls soccer team, the Bald Eagles.

In the last two weeks, the Lady Eagles entered overtime number three.

The Bearcats battled tough throughout the contest, taking the Eagles to an extra period before falling, 2-1.

Huntingdon led off the scoring when Jordyn Patrick plastered an unassisted goal at 23:21, left on the clock.

BEA rallied back in the second half when Heather Leskovansky scored off of an Abby Hoover at 57:42.

Hoover got the game winner connecting on a shot from a pass Sybil Thompson, ending thing at 81:03.

“Huntingdon made it difficult on us and we had some trouble finding the final pass in the attacking third, but the girls found a way to win like they have done all season long. Angie made a huge save with only seconds left in regulation to get us to overtime,” said Bald Eagle coach Jared Moore. “Hoov was the hero today and found the back of the net 1:03 into OT. We are glad to have this one behind us and we are excited and looking forward to districts.”

Bald Eagle had the 8-7 advantage on shots on goal and 6-0 in corners en route to the victory.

BEA goalie Angie Grieb stopped six shots while Huntingdon goalie Molly Miller finished with six as well.

BEA Record: 11-5-1 overall, 8-5-1 mountain league

The Next Game for the Lady Eagle will be in the District 6 Playoffs.

In JV action, the two teams finished in a scoreless tie.

BEA goalie Mackenzie Vozniak finished with five saves and one Penalty Kick save.

JV Record: 1-6-4.
