The Bald Eagle Area girls soccer team found themselves in a nail biter Tuesday against rival Bellefonte 1-0.
Heather Leskovansky’s goal at 79:42 proved to be the game winner as she connected off of a pass from Alex Hacker.
What an intense game from the start. This was a typical Bald Eagle/Bellefonte rivalry game. Bellefonte played us very hard. The girls never gave up, they stayed the course and were finally able to break through a really tough Bellefonte defense,” said Bald Eagle Area coach Jared Moore. “Alex Hacker picked up a ball around midfield and fed Heather a beautiful through ball. She had to outrace 2 defenders and a keeper coming out at her and still found the poise to touch it past and into the back of the net. Just outstanding finishing right when we needed it. Angie made some really clutch saves to keep us in the game and our defense played so tough tonight. What a great team win. “
Both teams finished the game with six shots on goals each.
BEA goalie Angelina Grieb finished with six saves while Bellefonte keeper Kierra Whitman had five.
Both teams had a corner each in the close contest.
With the win, Bald Eagle improves to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in Mountain League action.
Next up for Bald Eagle is a Home contest versus PO on 9/8.
In the JV contest Bellefonte defeated Bald Eagle 4-3.
