WINGATE – Tuesday night the Bald Eagle Area wrestling team hosted the District 6 AA Duals (Championship Quarterfinals) against Marion Center at the Bald Eagle Area high school.
It would be a strong showing for the Eagles as they defeated Marion Center 57-10.
The Stingers took the open bout at 215 as Carter Knox muscled out a hard fought 10-8 win over Kyle Watson.
Bald Eagle followed with a win at 285. Gave Gardner won by forfeit, giving the Eagles a quick 6-3 advantage.
The Eagles also picked up a forfeit win at 107. Tyler Corey had his hand raised on an easy victory.
At 114, the Eagles picked up their first pin in the match as Liam Purcell took care of Colton Blazavich by pinfall at 0:33.
Again at 121, the Eagles notched its third forfeit early in the contest. Liam Corey got the win and the bonus points, putting the Eagles out ahead 24-3.
Thingsxkept rolling the Eagles way as they captured a major decision win at 127. Tanner Guenot dominated in his match winning 11-2.
With all the momentum, Bald Eagle took the win at 133 as well. Caden Judice picked up the team’s first tech fall, topping Landon Spence 23-6 at 2:17.
Winning continued to be contagious for the eagles as Dawson Lomison took care of the 139-pound match pinning Josh Schleicher at 2:39.
However, the Eagles win streak was stopped at 145 pounds. Marion Center’s Tyler Phillips won a major decision over Easton Grimes, 17-7.
But Alex Surovec got the Eagles back as he pinned Michael Fabbri 3:00 to up the Eagles lead to 45-7.
The Stingers stung once more at 160. Noah Filipovich just got past Nicholas McCully 1-0.
Chayse Kellander won the 172-pound class for the home team pinning Aiden Buford in 2:35.
Caleb Close finished things off for the Eagles as he also won by forfeit.
The Eagles will be back in action Saturday against an opponent and a place to be announced later.
