WINGATE – Air mailing in a win!

There was no let down in the Bald Eagle Area air attack Friday as  Bald Eagle quarterback Carson Nagle hit his first 10 passes en route to a 16-for-20 280-yard, four TD performance.

The Eagles dominated Philipsburg-Osceola early, winning 42-13 on Homecoming night.

“We’re very proud of every kid here. We’ve fought. We battled. I thought we jumped on them early,” said Bald Eagle coach Jesse Nagle. “I think they were definitely surprised with our game speed. We just kept going after them.”

After beating previously undefeated Tyrone Eagles’ team, there was no let up as the Eagles had its game faces on and ready to go.

The Mounties won the toss and deferred to the second half.

With the ball to start, Nagle and company went right to work.

It took just six plays, four of which was through the air and culminated on a  Nagle 33-yard TD pass Tre Greene. With the Kaden Burns kick),Bald Eagle led 7-0 at 10:10.

Defensively, the Eagles were just as tough, allowing only 46 first half total yards.

After forcing PO to the three and out, the Eagles offense went right back to work.

This time the drive went only four plays, Nagle found Gavin Burns this time for a  27-yard TD pass.

Bald Eagle continued its hot hand into the second quarter, posting a 21-point run in the stanza.

After a Mounties punt that put Bald Eagle back deep, starting at their own seven.

But it would be Nagle again that would hit teammate Gavin Eckley in stride as Eckley did the rest, resulting in an 81-yard hook up for the team’s 21st point with 11:48 still left in the first half.

Again, the Bald Eagles defense continued pressure and forced the Mounties into its third straight punt.

It was a near disaster for the Mounties as the ball was hiked over the head of punter Brandon Hahn. Hahn did the best he could and threw the ball away once he got back possession of the ball.

However, the Eagles got good field possession, something the Eagles made the most out of.

With the ball on the Mounties 39, Nagle tossed a 39-yard TD strike to Camron Watkins. With the Burns kick at 9:13, Bald Eagle now led 28-0.

With time running out in the second, the Eagles went to its running game to score its fifth touchdown of the half.

Watkins scored on an 18-yard run, putting the game into a Mercy Rule status when the third quarter got underway. That happened at 4:27 left in the second.

Coming out of the break, the Eagles scored one last touchdown, upping things to a 42-point lead.

Greene, who finished with 63-yards in the game, blasted his way to a 13-yard TD run at 6:39.

Playing for nothing but pride, the Mounties finished strong posting two late fourth quarter touchdowns.

The first was a Jakobi Jones 4-yard run  and Carson Long kick) at 10:13.

PO finished the game scoring on a Dawson Snyder 3-yard run, ending the contest with a 42-13 contest.

With the win and a Tyrone win over Clearfield, there is a three way tie on top of the Mountain League. Bald Eagle joins both Tyrone and Clearfield at the top of the standings.
