Ava Baker collected three hits in three at bats, as Mifflin County defeated Mount Union 14-0 on Friday. Baker singled in the fourth inning, doubled in the second inning, and singled in the third inning.
The Lady Huskies jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the second inning after Macy Pietzsch hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, Layla Osman singled, scoring one run, Riley Hine tripled, scoring two runs, and a wild pitch scored one run.
Mifflin County added two runs in the third. Piper Specht doubled to center field, making the score 7-0.
The Huskies scored seven runs on five hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Baker singled, scoring two runs, Sayde Wise induced Specht to hit into a fielder’s choice, but two runs scored, Pietzsch doubled, scoring one run, and Mya Felmlee doubled, scoring two runs.
Pietzsch earned the win for Mifflin County. The starter allowed four hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out three and walking three. Wise took the loss for Mount Union. The hurler went one and two-thirds innings, surrendering eight runs (four earned) on four hits, striking out none and walking two.
The Lady Huskies tallied 12 hits in the game. Specht, the number seven hitter for Mifflin County, led the way with four runs batted in. The infielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Jalee Bodtorf and Hine each collected multiple hits for the Huskies. Mifflin County were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Specht had the most chances in the field with five.
Haley Atherton, Kaylynn Wharton, Kara Benson, and Sydnee Harris each collected one hit for Mount Union.
Mifflin County plays at home on Monday against Mechanicsburg in their next game.
