Addison Harpster drove in five runs on two hits to lead State College past Altoona 10-0 on Thursday. Harpster tripled in the second inning, scoring three runs, and doubled in the first inning, scoring two.
A double by Harpster put the Little Lions on the board in the bottom of the first.
State College extended their early lead with four runs in the bottom of the second thanks to RBI triples by Harpster and Ruby True.
The Lady Little Lions added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning when Sydney Wells doubled, scoring one run, Jessica Hawbaker singled, scoring one run, and Elizabeth Sikorski hit a sacrifice fly, scoring two runs.
Harpster earned the win for State College . The starter gave up two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out seven and walking none. Charli Schneider took the loss for Altoona. The starting pitcher went two innings, giving up six runs on five hits, striking out two and walking four.
Harpster and Wells each collected two hits for the Little Lions. Hawbaker led State College Varsity Little Lions with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying six walks for the game. State College was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Sikorski had the most chances in the field with seven.
Lilly Snyder led Altoona with two hits in two at bats.
Next up for State College is a game at Chambersburg on Wednesday.
