A defensive lock down; Terrace escapes as 7-0 winner over McVeytown in a defensive effort by both

LEWISTOWN – Defense took center stage Saturday afternoon when the Terrace Tigers Pee Wees went head-to-head with McVeytown in the second game of the Central Keystone Football and Cheer League.

Both defenses were on lockdown mode with only one touchdown scored the entire contest.

The Tigers picked up the only touchdown of the game when Conner Young hit teammate Liam Guerrero on a 44-yard Touchdown pass, giving the Tigers a 7-0 hard fought victory.

McVeytown was able to move the ball between the 20s but wasn’t able to cash in. Leading the rushing attack was Carter Long who finished with a hard earned 35 yards on the ground.

Terrace was led by quarterback Young who completed three passes and rushed for 31 yards.

Defensively, Terrace finished with two fumbles and an interception by Jaxon Yeater.

The Eagles started with the ball at its  own 20 and was able to work its way down field on a 9-play drive that was stopped at their own 43.

McVeytown went for it on fourth down and the play stalled giving it to the Tigers.

Terrace’s first possession was an abbreviated one as they fumbled and was recovered by the Eagles, putting the drive at their own 48.

However, the Tigers defense held tough and a forced the Eagles to punt.

With the ball sitting at the Eagles 37, the Tigers went into the second quarter in scoring position.

Two plays later, Young found a wide open Guerrero on the near side of the field for the touchdown.

After the touchdown and extra point, both defenses went into shut down mode as neither team were able to get as close as the 17-yard line the rest of the contest.

In the final stanza, the Eagles went on one last chance to tie the game were able to get down inside the 18 before the Tigers top their game up another notch, holding the Eagles and getting the ball back to run out the clock and celebrate the victory.
