Ozzy Osbourne has announced his first collection of Non-Fungible Tokens, otherwise known as NFTs. He’s calling it the CryptoBatz collection.
Via NME.com he commented: “I’ve been trying to get in on the NFT action for a while so when I asked Sharon for a Bored Ape for Christmas after several failed attempts of buying my own, and she said no, I decided to create my own.”
In referencing one of his infamous moments of biting the head off a live bat, he said: “CryptoBatz is a f***ing mental project for NFT collectors and fans. The design pays tribute to one of my most iconic onstage moments and is a chance to acquire a rare piece of art history. I love it!”
The nearly 10,000-piece collection will be available in January.
SIDE NOTES
- Ozzy’s tour is currently re-scheduled to begin in Helsinki on May 3, 2022 and arriving in the UK with a show at Nottingham’s Motorpoint Arena on May 31.
- NFTs (or “non-fungible tokens”) are a special kind of cryptoasset in which each token is unique — as opposed to “fungible” assets like Bitcoin and dollar bills, which are all worth exactly the same amount. Because every NFT is unique, they can be used to authenticate ownership of digital assets like artworks, recordings, and virtual real estate or pets.
