MECHANICSBURG –  It was a battle of the unbeatens Mifflin County 2-0 Mechanicsburg 2-0.

Despite battling throughout, the Huskies fell 19-0 on the road.

The contest was at a stalemate to begin the game as both teams were held scoreless after one quarter of play at John F Fredrick Field at Memorial Stadium.

The Wildcats were able to crack the scoreboard first on a 9-yard rushing touchdown from Rece Miller. He accounted for two of the three scores in the game. Miller would later score on a one-yard touchdown.

The Wildcats led at halftime 7-0 but Mifflin County still felt like that they had a chance trailing at the half by a slim margin.

“I’m proud of the way they played. Out defense played really hard,” said Mifflin County coach Shane Breon. “I knew our guys would when we were down 7-0 and had a shot on a shotgun snap and they made a good on the play. Then we went back and got it and that kinda burned things. I felt like we had a shot in the second half. We moved the ball a little bit and ran some trick plays just try to find ways to score but their good defense over there they caused fits for us but we just have to keep getting better.”

Mifflin County started things off strong as they started to move the ball down the field and they pulled out some tricks out of the bag when they would catch the Wildcats off guard. Joel Beamer would run for the first down on a fake punt However, Mifflin County would stall out Chase Hartungs pass would be picked off by Jack DeLuca.

Things would unravel for the Huskies as the Wildcats would add on. Anthony Francis would score on a one-yard touchdown run to extend the lead the Wildcats would be denied the two points as Mifflin County’s Nevin Farley would stuff Francis at the line.

Mifflin County showed grit on defense but couldn’t get anything going on offense as they would be shut out 19-0 on the road.

Mifflin County will welcome in Hershey on Mini Thon night next Friday hoping to get back into the win column.
